The Southwest Michigan Planning Commission and West Michigan Trails and Greenways Coalition are teaming up to offer a 4-part, ½-day workshop series in Southwest and West Michigan titled CONNECTING COMMUNITIES & PEOPLE WITH TRAILS. The session topics are listed below.

SESSION 1-Getting Your Trail Project Onto the Ground
- How do I plan for and get my trail project started?
- Who to communicate with, and when do I form a friends group?
- Engineering & Accessibility (ADA, etc)
SESSION 2-Funding Your Trail Project
- State/Federal programs
- MDNR Trust Fund
- MDOT
- Process for Federal Funds/Grants
- Foundations and Corporate Partners
SESSION 3-Liability and Maintenance for Trails
- Liability for Bike Routes
- Maintenance Part 1
- Maintenance Part 2
SESSION 4-Connecting All the Dots
The workshops will begin at 8:30 a.m. (registration) and end at 12:00 noon, with time for networking with other attendees, and Q&A sessions with speakers.
Each workshop series will be offered in both Southwest and West Michigan, and each is scheduled at the same site throughout the series.
Registration is required. The fee is: $10.00 for individual workshops; $30.00 for the entire 4-part workshop series. No refunds will be issued.
